The Whitmer Panthers will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Highland Hornets at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Whitmer focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Whitmer came up short against Ross and fell 39-27.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Mackenzie Royal-davis, who scored six points along with eight rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times she's played.
Meanwhile, Highland unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 61-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brunswick. Highland has struggled against Brunswick recently, as their game on Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Whitmer's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Highland, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-2.
Whitmer came up short against Highland when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 56-46. Can Whitmer avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
