The South Dade Buccaneers will challenge the Harmony Longhorns at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, South Dade earned a 9-6 win over Archbishop Carroll.
Angel Ayala looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Zac Tyre, who fired off two home runs and three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Sebastian De Valle was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
South Dade lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.
Meanwhile, Harmony came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Bulldogs.
Harmony also got a great performance from Trevin Bean as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Harmony's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Westin Thompson, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Thompson's hit this season.
South Dade's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Harmony, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. South Dade has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Harmony struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
