Softball Recap: Chattanooga Central Wins Going Away Against Grace Baptist Academy

Chattanooga Central won the last time they faced Grace Baptist Academy and things went their way on Friday too. The Pounders put the hurt on the Golden Eagles with a sharp 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Pounders, who have now won ten matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kaitlynn Cunningham made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Cunningham was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since March 3rd.

In other batting news, Laila Murdock was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Carli Morgan, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Chattanooga Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .591. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher in seven consecutive contests.

Chattanooga Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Grace Baptist Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Chattanooga Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 14-2 win against Red Bank on the 1st. As for Grace Baptist Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hixson at 5:30 p.m. on the 7th.
