C1 District 9 recap November 5, 2013
Cozad added to the longest winning streak in C1 District 9 this week by beating Minden, 61-14. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
The Whippets lost to Cozad 61-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Brian Cargill's team's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Nate Bubak threw for 78 and 2 touchdowns and Conor Young had 70 yards receiving. On the ground Colin Wetovick chipped in 80 yards.
The Haymakers' dynamic duo of Bubak and Young proved tough for Minden to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Kearney Catholic's John Masker and Blake Holtmeier have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-1 quarterback Masker has thrown for 912 yards this season, while Holtmeier has 28 catches for 543 yards. Cozad's Jake Paulsen leads the league in rushing yards with 1,510.
Chase County made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,186 from 7,737. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 31-15 victory over the Longhorns last week.
