Kings Christian kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell 42-36 to the Trona Tornadoes. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.
Kings Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wyatt Tarkington, who picked up 124 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 30 yards and one score. Tarkington really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 70 yards. Another signal caller making a difference was Daniel Dinkins, who threw for 208 yards and four TDs.

Caid McCullar was nothing short of spectacular for Trona: he rushed for 227 yards and one score while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Those 227 rushing yards gave McCullar a new career-high.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After each having a week off, Kings Christian and Tehillah Christian Academy will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on the 12th. As for Trona, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Desert at 7:00 p.m.
