Westfield is 1-9 against MacArthur since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Mustangs will face off against the Generals at 6:00 p.m. Westfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Westfield fell victim to Aldine and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Aldine.
MacArthur came out on top against Spring on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run first inning. The Generals never let the Lions get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Generals.
Artemio Mata was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because MacArthur is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-8 otherwise. Mata was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adrian Castillo, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of MacArthur's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Juan Vasquez, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
MacArthur was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spring only posted a batting average of .222.
MacArthur's record is now 12-10. As for Westfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-14.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Westfield has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like MacArthur struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Westfield might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from MacArthur in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
