Basketball Recap: Lordsburg Piles Up the Points Against Reserve

Lordsburg's game two weeks ago was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They blew past the Reserve Mountaineers 80-25. That 55 point margin sets a new team best for the Mavericks this season.

Lordsburg had a senior duo take command as Zeke De La O dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds and Victor Valdez went 7 of 9 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds. De La O's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Felipe Allen, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

Lordsburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive games.

With the victory, Lordsburg broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-8. As for Reserve, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Lordsburg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 64-50 defeat against Cliff on the 6th. As for Reserve, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-20 loss against Maxwell on the 10th.
