Lisbon is 8-2 against Madison since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Greyhounds are taking a road trip to challenge the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Lisbon sitting on six straight wins and Madison on three.
Lisbon had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Hall-Dale on Friday. The Greyhounds were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over the Bulldogs. The Greyhounds' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Cody Osmond made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Lisbon let Jacoby Tuplin and Jayden Camp run wild. Tuplin went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI, while Camp went 2-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That double was Camp's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Decato, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
Madison came out on top against Boothbay on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Seahawks. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by seven runs or more this season.
Jonathan Prosser spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, Xavier Estes and Griffin Dickey did most of the damage at the plate: Estes got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Dickey got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI Dickey has posted since back in May of 2024. Jaeson Almeida was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.
Lisbon's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Madison, their record is now 6-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lisbon has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Madison struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lisbon was able to grind out a solid victory over Madison in their previous matchup back in April, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Greyhounds since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
