Berkeley Springs hasn't had much luck against Keyser recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Indians will square off against the Golden Tornado at 7:00 p.m. Keyser took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Berkeley Springs, who comes in off a win.
Berkeley Springs will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Moorefield, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Indians walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Yellow Jackets on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Indians have beaten the Yellow Jackets on their field since May 4, 2017.
Kyle Moore was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Liam Coffman and Shawn McCumbee did most of the damage at the plate: Coffman went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while McCumbee went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave McCumbee a new career-high. Jayden Michael was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Berkeley Springs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Keyser suffered their closest defeat since April 24, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of East Hardy by a score of 9-7.
Hunter Harr was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. He also put up a run, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Landon Tysinger, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Berkeley Springs' win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-25. As for Keyser, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17-1 record this season.
Berkeley Springs beat Keyser 7-3 in their previous meeting last Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
