The Taylor County Bulldogs were the 48-40 winner over the Madison County Cowboys when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Taylor County took a 66-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Madison County on Saturday. Taylor County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Taylor County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Trayce Abercrombie, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Abercrombie pulled down eight or more rebounds. Louis Gaddy Jr. was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Madison County was led to victory by Micah Newman and Labron Lee. Newman scored 22 points along with four steals, while Lee scored 26 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. That's the first time this season that Lee pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Marcus Hawkins jr., who dropped a double-double on 11 rebounds and 11 assists.
Taylor County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Madison County, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Taylor County will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against FAMU DRS at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. FAMU DRS is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home. As for Madison County, they will head out on the road to take on Trenton at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Trenton is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53 points per game.
