After flying high against the Furr Brahmans back in December of 2023, the Worthing Colts came back down to earth. Worthing's rough 71-48 defeat to Washington on Monday might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Worthing has suffered since November 17, 2023.
Washington got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Danaya Pope out in front who scored 35 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pope has scored all season. Shaniece Powell was another key contributor, scoring 21 points.
Worthing's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-10. As for Washington, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
Worthing will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Kashmere at 11:30 a.m. on January 20th. Washington's road trip will continue as they head out to face Scarborough at 10:00 a.m. on January 13th. Scarborough comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
