Gibbs extended their postseason success on Thursday against Blake. They escaped with a win against the Blake Yellow Jackets by the margin of a single free throw, 50-49. The Gladiators are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 19 straight.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gibbs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jacob Daniels, who posted 21 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Oneal Delancy, who put up 16 points and six rebounds.
Blake's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jason Johnson, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 17 points and three steals, and Joe Philon, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. That's the most steals Johnson has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Joshua Lewis, who had 11 points and six rebounds.
Gibbs' win bumped their record up to 26-4. As for Blake, their loss dropped their record down to 24-5.
Gibbs will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Eustis at 7:00 p.m. on March 4th. Gibbs is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.4 points per game this season. Blake does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
