The biggest upset of the week belonged to Weston-McEwen/Griswold, who took down 84th ranked Weston-McEwen/Griswold, 20-13.
Stephen Thompson and Jesse Corbin provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Irrigon. The longest such play in 2A Blue Mountain this season, the connection resulted in 54 yards.
Heppner's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Thompson threw for 69 and one touchdown and Corbin had 54 yards receiving. On the ground Aidan Wright chipped in 167 yards. J.C. Putman helped Heppner's passing attack out by catching one ball for 15 yards.
Heppner's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Mustangs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Thompson has thrown for 179 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Corbin has seven catches for 109 yards. Wright leads the league in rushing with 437 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Elgin takes on Stanfield. At the moment, the Huskies are in eighth, while the Tigers are in first.
Stanfield moved up to 78 from 128 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A Blue Mountain. Jay Zwieselhoffer's team was able to make the jump by beating Pilot Rock/Nixyaawii Community 42-21.
