Independence has been on the road for two straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Westland Cougars at 1:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Tuesday, Independence took a serious blow against Africentric Early College, falling 89-29. Independence has not had much luck with Africentric Early College recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Ahmad Diagne, who scored ten points. The matchup was his third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Oumar Sall, who scored five points.
Meanwhile, Westland had to suffer through a rough 62-30 loss at the hands of Pickerington North. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Westland has scored all season.
Independence bumped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Westland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
Everything came up roses for Independence against Westland when the teams last played back in February as the squad secured a 79-50 victory. Does Independence have another victory up their sleeve, or will Westland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
