Sam Rayburn found their leader in underclassman Kimari Mikell, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Mikell set a new season high mark in blocks with four. Another player making a difference was Yvette Gutierrez, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Sam Rayburn's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-12. As for South Houston, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Dobie the next time they take the court. Sam Rayburn will host Dobie at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, while South Houston will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
