Bear Lake has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Soda Springs Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Bear Lake has not done well against Marsh Valley recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Bear Lake came out on top against Marsh Valley by a score of 50-41. Given Bear Lake's advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Marsh Valley is ranked 99th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Soda Springs was handed a two-point defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against West Side on Friday. Soda Springs simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat West Side 63-21 on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-10.
Bear Lake is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for Soda Springs, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10.
Bear Lake came up short against Soda Springs when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 55-43. Can Bear Lake avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
