Whitefish Bay extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-10. They lost 19-1 to the Cedarburg Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-3 back in April.
Whitefish Bay saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sara Borowski, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base.
As for Cedarburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.
On Cedarburg's side, Madyson Suhajda was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Suhajda has posted over her last seven contests. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs.
In other batting news, Cedarburg let Brielle Olk and Caroline Nothem run wild. Olk went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while Nothem went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave Olk a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Paige Schmitz, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Whitefish Bay will be playing at home against Oostburg at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Cedarburg, they will head out on the road to challenge Franklin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sabers have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
