Meanwhile, Sumrall's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 62-33 loss at the hands of Columbia. While losing is never fun, Sumrall can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 274th, while Columbia is ranked 73rd).
Lawrence County's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Sumrall, they dropped their record down to 4-17 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Lawrence County strolled past Sumrall in their previous meeting on January 9th by a score of 56-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lawrence County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
