The Legacy Longhorns entered their tilt with the Chaparral Cowboys with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Legacy enjoyed a cozy 58-44 win over the Cowboys on Thursday. That's another feather in the cap for Legacy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Legacy to victory were Rahjon Chambers and Aaron Duke. Chambers scored 16 points, while Duke scored 13 points. Chambers hasn't dropped below 16 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of D'Anthony Rabb, who scored nine points.
Despite the loss, Chaparral still got an impressive performance from Qualib Ghallab, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Ghallab continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Rayshawn Armstead was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Legacy is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. As for Chaparral, they dropped their record down to 8-16 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Legacy will take on the Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (Shadow Ridge is ranked 25th, while the Longhorns are ranked 17th). As for Chaparral, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Cimarron-Memorial focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday.
