Even though The East Lyme Vikings have not done well against the Norwich Free Academy Wildcats recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. East Lyme snuck past Norwich Free Academy with a 41-36 win. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
East Lyme got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aidan Patterson out in front who rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.9 yards per carry, and also picked up 41 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Ronin McNamara, who threw for 220 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt.
The victory makes it two in a row for East Lyme and bumps their season record up to 4-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of three points across that stretch. As for Norwich Free Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
East Lyme will be playing at home against Killingly at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Norwich Free Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Harding at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Harding is ranked 95th, while Norwich Free Academy is ranked 100th).
