Even though the Benicia Panthers scored an imposing 71 points on Friday, the Las Lomas Knights still came out on top. Las Lomas walked away with an 81-71 victory over Benicia. The victory was all the more spectacular given Las Lomas' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while Benicia is ranked 129th).
Las Lomas got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Julian Vaucher out in front who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Xayne Mojadiddi, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
The win got Las Lomas back to even at 10-10. As for Benicia, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Las Lomas will face off against Berean Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Benicia won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bethel at 6:00 p.m. on January 20th. Bethel will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
