The Progreso Red Ants will be home for the holidays to greet the IDEA Sports Park Stingrays at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Progreso will be strutting in after a win while IDEA Sports Park will be coming in after a loss.
Progreso can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They breezed by IDEA Riverview at home to the tune of 58-17. The win was just what Progreso needed coming off of a 56-17 loss in their prior contest.
It was another big night for Sophia Pecina, who shot 6-for-7 from downtown and almost dropped a triple-double on 33 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists. That makes it 16 consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Progreso's points. Alexa Galvan was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, IDEA Sports Park's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 50-19 loss at the hands of Lyford. IDEA Sports Park has struggled against Lyford recently, as their match on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Progreso's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-8. As for IDEA Sports Park, their loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-2.
Everything came up roses for Progreso against IDEA Sports Park in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 51-23 win. Will Progreso repeat their success, or does IDEA Sports Park have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
