After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Legend, the Douglas County Huskies were happy to have found some success on Friday. They had just enough and edged Heritage out 54-51. That's another feather in the cap for Douglas County, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Douglas County was led to victory by Delaney Whitaker and Sofia Baldessari. Whitaker scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, while Baldessari dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Baldessari has scored at least a third of Douglas County's points. When it comes to explaining why Heritage lost, one person who can't be blamed is Caelan DeBolt. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points along with five steals. It was the first time this season that DeBolt scored 15 or more points. Skylar Peterson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Douglas County now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Heritage, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.
