Cinco Ranch came out on top against Morton Ranch on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Cougars blew past the Mavericks 12-1. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Jonny Blackman spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Davis Lee was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ethan Sidener, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Cinco Ranch, bringing their record up to 14-15-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Morton Ranch, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 16 of their last 17 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-21 record this season.
