Dayton has gone a perfect 10-0 against South Tahoe recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Dust Devils will challenge the Vikings at 1:00 p.m. Dayton will be strutting in after a win while South Tahoe will be coming in after a loss.
Dayton's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Sparks as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The Dust Devils not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 15, 2025 (when they won 28-0).
Sparks' batters probably weren't too happy with Donnita Wass, who pitched a no hitter (she gave up zero walks).
On the hitting side, Macie Hannum was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Esmeralda Hernandez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Dayton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sparks only posted an OBP of .000.
Meanwhile, South Tahoe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Lowry, falling 17-0.
Dayton has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs this season. As for South Tahoe, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Dayton was able to grind out a solid victory over South Tahoe in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dust Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
