Baseball Recap: Auburndale Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Auburndale ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Discovery Spartans 6-5. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bloodhounds as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Eric Tucker looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, Hayden Sosa-Morris was incredible, scoring a run while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Thomas Pitard was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Auburndale's win bumped their record up to 6-16. As for Discovery, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-12.

Coming up, Auburndale will be taking part in a tournament against Davenport at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bloodhounds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Broncos have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Discovery, they will challenge Lake Placid at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans are facing the Dragons at the right time seeing as the Dragons are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
