The TMI-Episcopal Panthers will head out on the road to take on the St. Anthony Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. TMI-Episcopal is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 49-6, which was the final score in TMI-Episcopal's tilt against St. Joseph Academy on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, TMI-Episcopal can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1319th, while St. Joseph Academy is ranked 403rd).
In what's become a running theme this season, St. Anthony gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 66-35 win over Providence Catholic. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as St. Anthony just coasted through the last quarter.
Laura Sierra and Lisette Vargas were among the main playmakers for St. Anthony as the former dropped a triple-double on 16 points, ten rebounds, and ten blocks and the latter went 7 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 0 assists. Sierra is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Alejandra Vargas, who scored three points along with 18 assists and two steals.
TMI-Episcopal dropped their record down to 2-15 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.9 points per game. As for St. Anthony, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-14.
TMI-Episcopal was dealt a bruising 54-13 loss at the hands of St. Anthony in their previous meeting back in January. Can TMI-Episcopal avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
