Northeastern hasn't had much luck against Wapahani recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Knights will head out to take on the Raiders at 11:00 a.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Saturday.
Northeastern is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over Union County on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won five in a row.
Northeastern saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan White, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another was Riley Isaacs, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Northeastern kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Wapahani made easy work of Eastern Hancock on Thursday and carried off a 10-2 win. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by eight runs or more this season.
Nate Luce spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on two hits.
At the plate, Quentine James was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Wapahani: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Andrews, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
The victory got Wapahani back to even at 3-3. As for Northeastern, their record is now 4-1.
Wapahani's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Northeastern has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. It's a different story for Wapahani, though, as they've only averaged .348. Will they be able to contain Northeastern's hitters?
Northeastern was able to grind out a solid win over Wapahani in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
