The Windham Eagles will challenge the Cheverus Stags on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Windham 1.5, Cheverus 0.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Windham is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over Gorham. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won nine in a row.
Kennedy Kimball spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 14 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Yani Kostopoulos, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Cheverus strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Kennebunk. The result was nothing new for the Stags, who have now won 13 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kennebunk's batters probably weren't too happy with Addison DeRoche, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 18 Ks (she gave up zero walks).
On the hitting side, Hailey Lamontagne was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Cheverus' win was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Windham, their win bumped their record up to 16-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Windham hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Cheverus struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
