Fort Wayne Snider has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Carroll Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Fort Wayne Snider is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Carroll in Indiana (Fort Wayne Snider is ranked sixth, while Carroll is ranked 137th).
Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Fort Wayne Snider beat Northridge 50-44.
It was another big night for Tia Phinezy, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Zyann Phinezy was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Carroll scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Fort Wayne North Side 76-32 on the road. That 44 points margin sets a new team best for Carroll this season.
Carroll got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Maddie Gawthrop out in front who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gawthrop has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jersey Paul, who scored 15 points along with five steals.
Fort Wayne Snider's win was their 17th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-2. As for Carroll, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-13.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Fort Wayne Snider have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Carroll struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Fort Wayne Snider didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Carroll in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 58-52 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Carroll's Kayla Gibbs, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds. Now that she won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Fort Wayne Snider to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
