The Davie War Eagles lost against the Mount Tabor Spartans back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Davie was dealt a 70-39 loss at the hands of the Spartans. While losing is never fun, Davie can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the Spartans are ranked 59th).
When it comes to explaining why Davie lost, one person who can't be blamed is Malayka Rankin. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Peyton Spaugh, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Davie and nudges their season record down to 11-9. As for Mount Tabor, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Davie will face off against the Titans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully West Forsyth focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday. As for Mount Tabor, they will head out on the road to take on the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Glenn: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while the Spartans have snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.
