Lincoln County is 1-8 against Rockcastle County since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Patriots will host the Rockets at 6:00 p.m. Lincoln County will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Last Tuesday, Lincoln County made easy work of Berea and carried off a 12-1 win. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Madison Cassidy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Halle Siler was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Raelee Lawson, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Lincoln County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Rockcastle County suffered their closest loss since May 3, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Pulaski County by a score of 5-3.
Sydney Holcomb spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lauren Hensley was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Macy Spivey was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Lincoln County's win bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Rockcastle County, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 10-8-1.
Rockcastle County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lincoln County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. It's a different story for Rockcastle County, though, as they've only averaged .342. Will they be able to contain Lincoln County's hitters?
Lincoln County might still be hurting after the 16-1 loss they got from Rockcastle County in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
