The Fort Thomas Apaches were the 45-42 winner over the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets when they last played one another back in December of 2014, but their luck changed this time around. Fort Thomas' rough 40-20 defeat to Blue Ridge on Friday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Fort Thomas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Blue Ridge is ranked eighth).
Kaylee Benally was Fort Thomas' leading scorer, having posted six points.
Makayla Chapman held things down on the boards with five rebounds.
Fort Thomas' defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Blue Ridge, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Fort Thomas is on the road again on Friday and play against Mogollon at 3:00 p.m. on December 8th. Mogollon's defense has only allowed 24.2 points per game this season, so Fort Thomas' offense will have their work cut out for Fort Thomas. As for Blue Ridge, they will square off against St. Johns at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully St. Johns focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
