On Friday, The Whiting Oilers got themselves on the board against the Lake Station Edison Fighting Eagles, but the Lake Station Edison Fighting Eagles never followed suit. They breezed by the Fighting Eagles at home to the tune of 40-0. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Whiting just coasted through the last quarter.
Whiting had a senior duo take command as Nick Davenport threw for 139 yards and three touchdowns on only six passes and Gabe Eggers rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Lake Station Edison to a paltry 151 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Whiting's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out six times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Shakur Parker and Servando Garza who racked up four sacks between them.
The victory makes it two in a row for Whiting and bumps their season record up to 4-6. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31 points. As for Lake Station Edison, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Whiting's homestand continues as they prepare to take on LaVille at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. LaVille is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Lake Station Edison does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
