The Preble Shawnee Arrows won the last time they faced the Newton Local Indians, and things went their way on Thursday too. Preble Shawnee narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Indians 42-40.
Preble Shawnee can attribute much of their success to Ashleigh Mondello-garrett, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and four steals. Mondello-garrett has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Addison Sargent-eckert, who scored ten points.
Preble Shawnee's win bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Newton Local, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.
Preble Shawnee will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Blackhawks at 7:30 p.m. on February 8th. As for Newton Local, they will be playing at home against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
