Basketball Recap: Foshay Falls Despite Big Games from Shomare' Gray and Peter Egwurube

Foshay lost against Larchmont Charter back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Foshay Wolverines fell 70-63 to the Larchmont Charter Timberwolves. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Peter Egwurube and Shomare' Gray certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Egwurube posted 26 points in addition to eight boards and four blocks, while Gray had 16 points along with five assists and five steals. Egwurube's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Chavez, who put up three points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Larchmont Charter had a senior duo take command as Jonathan Callahan-Rives went 10 of 13 on his way to 24 points in addition to five boards and three steals and Nicholas Ojeda went 12 for 16 en route to 22 points and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Callahan-Rives has scored all season. Omar Gomez was another key player, putting up seven points.

Foshay's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Larchmont Charter, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Foshay didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 76-45 defeat against Math & Science College Preparatory on the 17th. Larchmont Charter has also already played their next contest, a 57-46 loss against Horace Mann UCLA Community on the 17th.
