WPIAL AAAA Northern Eight recap October 22, 2013
Fox Chapel scaled the state rankings by moving to 276 from 325 this week, the biggest jump in WPIAL AAAA Northern Eight. The Foxes climbed the ranks as a result of besting Butler 49-17.
Seneca Valley was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Bethel Park. The Raiders came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 35 last week.
Jeff Clemens threw for 156 yards and 4 touchdowns. He went 8-10 with 0 interceptions.
Clemens put up the best numbers in passing as North Allegheny topped Shaler Area. Clemens' favorite target this week was Elijah Zeise, who caught 4 passes for 104 yards.
On the heels of Ben DiNucci and Conner Slomka, Pine-Richland has had great success on offense. DiNucci leads the league in passing with 1,657 yards, while Slomka has rushed for 1,095 yards this season. The Tigers' Zeise leads the league in receiving yards with 651 on 31 catches.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when North Hills takes on North Allegheny. As it stands, the Indians are in fourth, while Art Walker's team is in third.
Central Catholic extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Altoona, 38-0. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Vikings.
