Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Eagle's Landing Christian Academy Chargers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 24-17 hit to the loss column at the hands of Union County on Saturday.
When it comes to explaining why Eagle's Landing Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brandon Hood. Despite the final result, he rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 65 receiving yards. Hood was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards.
Even if they lost, Eagle's Landing Christian Academy's defense still kept up the pressure with six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Anthony Riad and Donavan Anderson who racked up five sacks between them.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Union County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braylen Rader, who rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown. Jensen Goble did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 111 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Eagle's Landing Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Union County, they have yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 8-4 record.
Eagle's Landing Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Union County will head out on the road to face off against Rockmart at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rockmart will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
