Chelsea Shaker made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2025. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those runs were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Anderson got a massive performance out of Shelby Brough, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those runs marked the first that Brough has scored this season. Elora Stump was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Anderson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Richmond only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, Muncie Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against Union City, falling 10-4.
Abrielle Morton made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Aubreyan Mullenix, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.
Anderson's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Muncie Central, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-9.
Everything went Anderson's way against Muncie Central when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Anderson made off with a 25-3 victory. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Bearcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
