Coahoma has won 20 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Jacksboro has won 20 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Bulldogs will welcome the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Coahoma is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.9 runs per game this season.
Coahoma is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Henrietta get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. Give the Bulldogs' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.
Hannah Wells made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run.
Wells wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Addi Hart, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, Jacksboro got the win against Muleshoe on Friday by a conclusive 7-0. Considering the Tigers have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Brooke Reaves, who gave up just two hits and racked up 17 Ks to keep Muleshoe off the board.
At the plate, Holly Lehman and Lilly Perez did most of the damage at the plate: Lehman went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Perez got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple and one RBI. Emory Inman was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Jacksboro is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 25-12-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Coahoma, their win bumped their record up to 30-0.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Coahoma has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .577. However, it's not like Jacksboro struggles in that department as they've averaged .446. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Coahoma beat Jacksboro 4-0 in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
