Dora hasn't had much luck against Carbon Hill recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up. Dora is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Dora barely beat Pinson Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Dora blew past Pinson Valley 14-3 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulldogs needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Dora got a massive performance out of Ada Nix, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Lillian McKinney was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Dora was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .562. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Carbon Hill has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.13 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They lost 10-1 to Hamilton. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Raelea Guy was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Reese Tittle, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Carbon Hill's defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Dora, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dora hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .377. However, it's not like Carbon Hill struggles in that department as they've averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dora might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Carbon Hill in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will Dora have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
