Pius X and Skutt Catholic are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Pius X Thunderbolts will head out on the road to square off against the Skutt Catholic SkyHawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pius X has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 884 points over their last 13 games.
Even though Grand Island scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, Pius X still came out on top. Pius X took their matchup against Grand Island 67-56.
Pius X's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kellan Humm, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Treyson Anderson, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Skutt Catholic pushed their score all the way to 57 on January 6th, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 61-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Elkhorn North.
Pius X's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points per game. As for Skutt Catholic, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.
Pius X didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Skutt Catholic in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 54-49 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pius X since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
