Washington (Miami, Fla.) put up 17 points in the fourth quarter in Saturday's game to seal their 41-7 victory over Gulliver Prep (Miami, Fla.).
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Malik Atkins to
Deltron Hopkins in the second quarter, the Tornadoes were up 21-7 at the half.
Washington expanded its lead to 17 points entering the fourth quarter. WHS scored once in the quarter on a field goal by
Jose Borregales.
With the win the Tornadoes extended their winning streak to eight games. Washington defeated Northwestern 21-9 last week.
Krondis Larry was the top performer for Washington. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
Gulliver Prep's lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run in the second quarter.
WHS had given up an average of 7.3 points prior to the contest. The Raiders came in giving up 10.9 points per game this season. Gulliver Prep had a hard time against Washington's offense, who entered the game scoring 31.0 points per game.
Washington also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 49-6.
