Softball Recap: Southern Aroostook Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Southern Aroostook, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over the Hodgdon Hawks on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won seven contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Olivia Ellingwood made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Skyla Lewis and Hannah McGary did most of the damage at the plate: Lewis went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double, while McGary went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Lewis has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Addyson Schmidt was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Southern Aroostook's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Hodgdon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Southern Aroostook has already played their next matchup, a 10-1 loss against Katahdin on the 30th. As for Hodgdon, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-9 defeat against Ashland on the 28th.
