Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Columbus struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Smiths Station racked up 13.
Smiths Station's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tasha Judkins led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 10 rebounds. Judkins is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Jasmyn Thomas was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Columbus now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Smiths Station, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Columbus will be playing in front of their home fans against Jordan at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Smiths Station, they will head out on the road to face off against Booker T. Washington at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Booker T. Washington will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 188th, while Smiths Station is ranked 46th).
