The Gloucester Catholic Rams won against the Clayton Clippers on Wednesday with 43 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Gloucester Catholic claimed a resounding 43-12 victory over Clayton on the road. The result was nothing new for Gloucester Catholic, who have now won three matchups by 28 points or more so far this season.
When it comes to explaining why Clayton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rainelle Blocker. Despite the final result, she scored five points along with 14 rebounds and three blocks. Blocker scored a full 41.7% of Clayton's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Clayton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The win was the fifth in a row for Gloucester Catholic, bringing their record for this year to 7-1. As for Clayton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
Gloucester Catholic will be playing in front of their home fans against Pitman at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Pitman will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 165th, while Gloucester Catholic is ranked 40th). Clayton won't have much time to rest: their next game is against LEAP Academy at 4:00 p.m. on January 5th. LEAP Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
