Harrison Central came out on top against Gulfport by a score of 51-41 on Friday. Given Harrison Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Gulfport is ranked 134th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Harrison Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Shaun Murray out in front who scored 13 points along with two steals. Murray is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Eckford, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Harrison Central is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Gulfport, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.
Harrison Central won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Ridgeland at 11:30 a.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Ridgeland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Thursday. As for Gulfport, they will head out on the road to take on Ocean Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ocean Springs has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests.
