Union's loss came about despite a quality game from Abigail Harles, who had 20 digs and two assists. Harles is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 16 or more in each of the last seven games she's played.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hillsboro, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Festus on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hawks have posted against the Tigers since October 15, 2020.
Hillsboro wouldn't go down easily and took Festus into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-22, 25-11, 23-25, 15-12.
Hillsboro has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4-4 record this season. As for Union, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's still a better percentage than their 4-17 record this season.
Union took their win against Hillsboro when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
