Eastside and Santa Fe are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2014, but not for long. The Eastside Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Santa Fe Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Eastside will be strutting in after a win while Santa Fe will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, Eastside never let their opponents score. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 43-0 victory over St. Joseph Academy. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Eastside's zero-point performance the game before.
Among those leading the charge was Adrian Curtis, who threw for 191 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Curtis was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards. Corvin Byrd also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Santa Fe, who are still winless after their eighth contest. They were dealt a 42-7 loss at the hands of Union County on Friday. Santa Fe was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-7.
Eastside is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Santa Fe, their defeat was their 13th straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8.
Everything went Eastside's way against Santa Fe in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as Eastside made off with a 28-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eastside since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
