The Castle View Sabercats will head out on the road to take on the Mullen Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
Castle View lost 9-3 to Fruita Monument on Saturday. The Sabercats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Castle View saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Harper, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Brandon Favaro also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mullen). They put the hurt on Thomas Jefferson with a sharp 24-10 victory on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Player #16 and Brady Hirsh made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Player #16 pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Hirsh pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mullen is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise. At bat, Player #16 got on base in five of his six plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and five RBI, while Hirsh got on base in five of his six plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and five RBI.
In other batting news, Player #9 was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Marsh, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Mullen lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2025.
Mullen is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Castle View, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
Castle View skirted past Mullen 5-4 in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sabercats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
